Hello PlanGuru users. We have just released our next maintenance update for PlanGuru 2014. A full list changes and improvements can be found below.
Added Buttons to Left Menu Bar: A graphical improvement added to this version, we now have buttons on the left hand side for importing, uploading an analysis to PlanGuru Analytics, and Analysis Setup. This will save users from having to go through various drop-down menus in order to find what they are looking for, and will make the program both easier to use, and more intuitive for new users.
Opening A Company by Double Clicking Name: In the past, users had to click on the small box next to a company name in order to gain access to the analyses it contained. Now users can get in to that company just by double clicking on the name. It is a small improvement but one that we feel makes the program just a little bit easier to use as you have less things to click through now.
Unhandled Exception Regarding Spread Control: It had been reported, on very rare occasion, that an unhandled exception would display after a user clicked in a certain area of their analysis. The error message did not cause anything to go wrong, and instances of this bug were very rare. This has been fixed as of this update.
Analysis Setup – Adding Historical Periods: Some users noted a bug regarding the options to choose historical dates when setting up an analysis. If they had a projection that started in 2014, and wanted to include two years of historical data, the first year would default to 2013. When they checked off the second year, it would also display 2013. This bug only affected the analysis setup screen, and once the analysis was actually built the proper dates would display, however this bug caused some confusion. This has been fixed.
Add Analysis Name – Message Displays Twice: When a user was trying to add an analysis, and tried to move forward with the process without adding a name, a message would display reminding them that they needed to name it. This is intended behavior; however this message would pop up twice, the second time reminding them of the same thing. This was unnecessary and the second pop-up will no longer occur.
Issues uploading analyses to PlanGuru Analytics: Users would occasionally note that their analyses would not upload to PlanGuru Analytics. They would receive a message stating that the file could not be uploaded. The cause of this had to do with adding subtotal groupings after the analysis had already been uploaded once. This caused Analytics trouble when the analysis was being uploaded again. Users will no longer run in to this problem.
Unhandled Exception during Import Process: On rare occasions some users reported that they would receive an unhandled exception during the import process. The error message stated that “The collection was modified”. That error message would pop-up, and the import would never finish. This would happen in both the Quickbooks and Excel imports. Users should no longer encounter this error.
Unhandled Exception When Running Budget vs Actual Reports: Some users would run in to an unhandled exception when trying to run a budget vs actual report. This would only happen if they tried to build the report without selecting any statement to print. Although this would only be encountered by mistake, we should not allow a user to continue in the process without selecting a statement. Now users will be notified that they need to select a statement to print before they can continue.
“Show Projection Method” Descriptions Did Not Match 2014 Changes: In PlanGuru 2014 we changed the names of many of the projection methods. While these changes were made in the “Add/Change Category” menu, they were not made when a user clicked the “Show Projection Method” option. For Example, a category projected using the “Growth Rate” method, would read “Adjust Prior Period Amount”. This led to some confusion, and the proper changes have now been made.
